Main festivities

Easter: Religious celebration combined with African-Ecuadorian pagan traditions which are celebrated in most coast sites. The celebration in Borbon and its surroundings is quite interesting.

Carnival: Magnificence and color of the Black pagan traditions. Marimbas (Afro-American instrument and dance); drinks, and lots of water!

Farming, crafts, and industrial fair: August 3-5 in Esmeraldas. You will listen and dance to the marimba rhythms, you will see parades, and other cultural events.
